    SCHOOL CLOSURE

    Information regarding COVID-19

Future Academies’ highest priority is the wellbeing of its pupils, staff and wider communities.

We are following the Government and Public Health England’s advice on managing the COVID-19 virus and have been closely monitoring the situation. As such, we have taken the decision to close Pimlico Primary today.

This closure comes as a result of the unprecedented challenges that COVID-19 presents to our communities. This week, student attendance has decreased, alongside an increase in staff absence due to the latest guidance from the Government and Public Health England.

At present, Pimlico Primary will remain closed until further notice. Any further closures will be communicated here, or if you are a parent/guardian, via letter and text message. The school will operate a monitored answer machine for urgent messages; please dial 020 7802 1909 to access this service.

During this challenging time, we hope to minimise the disruption to our students’ education as much as possible and we have set students work to complete on a daily basis.

We are implementing plans to provide food for students eligible for Free School Meals; parents/guardians have been contacted directly on this. Contact the number above if you have a query on this.

Thank you to all staff, both those in the classrooms and those who work behind the scenes, for their commitment and sacrifice during these times.

Please follow the latest guidance from the Government and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Since opening in September 2013, Pimlico Primary has fulfilled its founding purpose of ensuring pupils grow in knowledge, respect and aspiration, so that they may succeed in education and in life. Pimlico Primary is one of three primary schools sponsored by Future Academies, and has been judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in all areas.

Our academically rigorous, classical and knowledge-led curriculum inspires and our excellent teaching challenges, with the result that children develop into articulate, confident and courteous members of society while enjoying a vibrant and happy school life.

    We Are Unique

At Pimlico Primary, we proudly differentiate from other primary schools in the following areas:

We believe in a model of subject-specific teaching at Key Stage 2: our teachers have a high-level degree in their area of expertise.

    • We do not teach to the test: our subject-specialist teachers have deep and broad knowledge about their discipline, and knowledge is prioritised for knowledge’s sake, rather than for use in an examination. We believe in pitching lessons high so that our most able students are never bored, whilst supporting our less able students to make steady progress. We have high expectations for all children, in behaviour and attainment: this results in outstanding progress.
    •
    • We teach a traditional curriculum, with a focus on ‘depth through breadth’ and didactic teaching, where the teacher is the expert. Through our Curriculum Centre, we are able to give extensive thought to what students are learning, making use of cutting-edge educational research into cognitive science. We teach our students the best that has been thought and said, giving them access to high-quality, classic texts, and lessons from subject experts. We do not, like many primaries, focus on Maths and English exclusively, but dedicate time to discrete subject teaching. Our students study Ancient History, British History, Latin and Geography in great depth, and this is reflected in the amount of lesson time dedicated to these subjects (KS2 students have five History lessons and two Latin lessons per week). We believe that discrete subject teaching, with the inclusion of such traditional subjects as Latin and Ancient History, can be an emancipatory force, opening doors of opportunity to our students.
    •
    • We focus on developing students’ vocabulary and grammar, not purely in their English lessons but in the delivery of all subjects.

    We Are Innovative

    • As a free school, we are not constrained by the restraints of any previous operations, but instead are able to concentrate our efforts into providing an innovative education in line with the research and aims of Future Academies.

We strive to give our students a rigorously academic education that puts them on a level playing field with their independently-educated peers. The educational experience that we provide to our students is on a par with anything offered by the private sector, but is accessible to all, regardless of background. Our aims are to broaden our students’ horizons, so that the students who leave us are well-rounded and at ease in any situation.

    Uniform Information

You will need to access this website in order to buy more items of uniform, and to purchase the new Pimlico Primary tie.

In order to place your order, you must go on the website www.trutexdirect.com and enter the unique code for the school: LEA00957SC

This will take you through to the unique website which Trutex have designed for our school.

Once on the website, you will see a list of items available to purchase. Some of these items have been labelled compulsory: these are items which you must purchase through Trutex, and it is essential your child has this.

Once you have selected the jumper from the list of available items, you can enter the size and quantity you require in the boxes to the right of the picture. Once you are happy with this, click on ‘add to bag’.

When you have selected all the items you wish to purchase, click on the ‘shopping basket’ in the top right hand corner of the screen.

When you have selected all the items you wish to purchase, click on the ‘shopping basket’ in the top right hand corner of the screen. Please ignore messages that say ‘item being customised’ or ‘item out of stock’ as we have been assured by Trutex that the expected delivery dates provided are not correct, and that all items should be delivered within 5-7 working days.

When you are happy that all the items in your shopping basket are correct, you can click on ‘secure check out’ which will take you through to the final area of the website. Here you can enter your address, and credit/debit card details in order to buy these items.

Remember, the tie will be delivered to school. All other items will be delivered to your house. We expect all items to arrive within 2-3 weeks of ordering them, and all pupils should be kitted out with the correct uniform for the start of the new term.

Alternatively, parents can purchase uniform through Trutex, by calling 01200 421206.

You can also call 01200 421206 to order over the phone.
