  • Governance

Pimlico Primary is a Future Academies school. We belong to an ambitious and innovative family of five schools, with a teacher training college and small curriculum unit.

The Future Academies schools are sponsored by the charity, Future, founded by the social entrepreneurs, John and Caroline Nash. Future’s founding belief is that, with the right support, encouragement and opportunities, there are no limits to what young people can achieve.

Our sister schools are Pimlico Academy (the Outstanding secondary school to which most of our pupils move to), Churchill Gardens Primary Academy, Millbank Academy, based in Westminster, and Phoenix Academy in White City. There are strong working relationships between the schools that directly benefit staff and pupils. All Future Academies primary schools follow a subject-specific curriculum that is helping to set new, high standards.

    The role of Future Academies

The role of our sponsor is to lead the Advisory Body and set direction for our school, fostering progress in all areas of the school’s operations and promoting good use of public funds. Future Academies works with the leadership team to ensure we provide the best learning environment for pupils.

    The Local Governing Body

The primary task of our Local Governing Body is to hold the Principal to account for the progress and attainment of pupils, their safeguarding and wellbeing. Local governors may occasionally be asked to form panels to support school policies relating to pupil discipline and staffing matters.

The Local Governing Body meets each term, and reports to the Directors of Future Academies. Local governors make termly visits to the school to monitor progress against the school development plan. Click here to visit the Future Academies website.

Tracy Simmons, governance lead at Future Academies, can be contacted for any queries relating to the work of the Local Governing Body: tracy.simmons@futureacademies.org.

Would you like to shape the future of one of our thriving academies as a Governor?

Outstanding local governance is vital to the success of Future Academies. Our local governing bodies carry much of the responsibility for overseeing the performance and educational offer our academies provide.

At the heart of our ethos is the aspiration that children are enabled to be socially mobile through a knowledge-led approach to curriculum planning and delivery, as well as a broad and wide-ranging educational enrichment programme.

Being a governor is a voluntary position and we are incredibly grateful to the highly skilled group of people who commit their time and expertise to our academies.

If you want to become a governor and if you share our aspirations for our children and teenagers, we would be delighted to hear from you.
