Year 3 Thames Explorers
This week Year 3 became Thames Explorers; we travelled to Fulham Palace and explorer the foreshore. At first we were afraid of the mud but after ten minutes we happily waded into the water! We used nets and overturned stones to find lots of leaches and fresh water shrimp, picking them up with our fingers as we got more confident. We measured the temperature of the water, did an experiment to find where the river was flowing fastest and examined the water quality. A Police boat sailed past and we gave it a wave! After a well-deserved lunch break (when we played with a friendly squirrel) we did some workshops inside. The workshops explored the history of the Thames and its Geography; we also learned how to help protect it. Everyone had a brilliant day, especially playing in the mud!
